Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has sounded the alarm over growing insecurity and economic woes in Nigeria, urging collective action to address the growing crisis.
In a statement issued on Saturday via his X account, Obi highlighted recent kidnappings, including those of medical students in Benue and a state commissioner and his wife in Edo, and stressed the need for a unified response.
“It is time to declare war on this massive insecurity and other issues that threaten our society,” Obi said, calling for bold action and a united front against the challenges facing the nation.
The former Anambra State Governor stressed that Nigerians cannot continue to live in fear and uncertainty, stressing the need to build a safer, more prosperous and just society for all.

“In the past 24 hours, several people have been kidnapped across Nigeria, including about 20 dental students from Maiduguri and Jos in Benue State.
“A Commissioner of Anambra State and his wife were kidnapped in Edo State, and others traveling with them were killed. These are just some of the many tragic incidents that have occurred across the country.”
Obi’s call for action comes as Nigeria grapples with growing insecurity, economic hardship and social unrest, raising concerns about the country’s future.
