Former Anambra governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in an interview with New Central TV Obi stressed that his main ambition was to see Nigeria progress, stating, “I do not aspire to be the president of Nigeria. I aspire to see Nigeria progress.”
He expressed his readiness to support candidates who share his vision for a better Nigeria, saying, “If I see someone who can do a better job, I will (consider running for Vice President).”

When asked about his future political plans, Obi reiterated his commitment to the Labour Party, ruling out the possibility of defecting to another party. However, he said he remains open to collaboration and mergers with like-minded politicians, provided their goals are aligned with his.
Obi stressed, “I will not join anyone to take over the state or win elections. I want anyone to tell me how we are going to ensure that no child is left behind, how we are going to bring back the millions of out-of-school children to school.”
