Plateau ADC Chairman Reaffirms Support for Mark’s Leadership

ADC chief accuses judge of bias, calls for recusal in leadership dispute

The Plateau President of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs. Hanatu Gagara, has reaffirmed the state chapter’s support for the party leadership led by Senator David Mark.

Garga told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Wednesday that Mark and Rauf Aregbesola were validly appointed as president and secretary by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ADC to lead the party.

The President said anyone claiming to be an ADC leader was an impostor who wanted to create confusion and disaffection in the party.

He expressed confidence that the ADC will emerge stronger and better from the storms.

“As far as I’m concerned, I know who the leaders are and we don’t have any other leadership.

“Those are Senator David Mark and his team. They are the ones we recognize, and this is what I know.

“I took part in the NEC meeting; we were with them and we all accepted them. All the presidents of the states who are members of the NEC.

“So now I can’t help but say that I know nothing about it. I was part of it and I am fully aware of it,” he stressed.

Gagara distanced herself from a report that some state party chairmen were not in support of Mark’s leadership.

The President told NAN that the Plateau chapter of the ADC was united and committed to serving as a credible alternative to the ruling party.

According to her, screening of members before the district and state conventions began on Tuesday with the actual conventions scheduled for Wednesday.

The president said he was optimistic about the validity of the outcome of the congresses as the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) was duly informed in line with the electoral act.

He urged members to come forward in numbers and participate in conferences.
