Up to eight people were confirmed death, four missing, with 19 injured following an attack on travelers in the Mangal Government (LGA) community of the State of the Plateau on Friday evening.
The travelers who made their way to make the wedding ceremony in Qua’anpan LGA were flakes, with 19 hospitalized in the hospital at the Mangu General Hospital.
One of the survivors, Ibrahim Umar, told Calvary, stating that they were deliberately targeted after asking for indications.
“We came from Zaria and we headed towards the area of the local government of Qua’anpan for the marriage of a friend. He teaches in a school here. Our driver lost his way to Kyarang Junction.
“Around 18:00, we stopped in a community to ask for information. Some of them said:” These are people hausa, we kill them “.
“They surrounded the bus and started attaching us with sticks, machetes and stones. They beat us severely. Eight people died on the spot and four others are still missing.
“First they killed the driver and then fire to the bus, burning seven bodies.
“We were on board 31 of us. The bus belongs to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Nineteen of us are receiving treatments at the Mangu general hospital,” said Ibrahim Umar.
Also confirming the accident, the president of Mangu Lga, Emmanuel Bala, said that the attack was mistakenly carried out.
“Due to the previous accident in which the people had been attacked, the members of the Manjul community had received a relationship that the bandits could hit again. The young people were therefore on alert. Unfortunately, some travelers directed to what they erroneously took the road to Mangun and were attacked by a crowd.
“Travelers were 31 years old in a bus. I personally visited the scene. Eight people were confirmed as death and the deceased and wounded were taken to the Mangu general hospital.
“The security staff is investigating the accident.
“It is a pity that innocent people – the Muslims Ahausa – were attacked and killed,” Bala complained.
