The police on Wednesday charged a 21-year-old woman, Anita Adeboye, in the Ado-Ekiti Judge Court in the Ekiti state due to alleged fraud and imitation.
The defendant was charged with accusations of two fraud and imitation counts.
Prosecutor, Insp. Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others committed a violation on February 19 at Igede-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said the defendant and her accomplice, including her husband, obtained the number of N1.1 million from the complainant, Mr. Adegbulugbe Olarewaju.
According to him, people accused of disguising themselves as customs officers to deceive complainants.
He said: “The defendant claimed that Nigeria’s Customs and Excise services wanted to auction off several items, including rice and cars.
“The complaint showed an interest in buying goods, but the defendant failed to send it to him.

“She was arrested through tracking, while her husband ran away.”
According to him, the violation was contrary to section 338 (1) and 391 from the Criminal Law of the State of Ekiti, 2021.
However, the defendant claimed to be innocent for the accusation.
Advisor to the Defendant, Ny. Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to provide guarantees to his clients with a promise that he would not jump guarantees.
However, the prosecutor opposed the application, saying he might jump guarantee.
Head of Judge, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, returned the defendant to the fast response team and postponed the case until April 17.
