Police are investigating alleged misconduct by officers in Lagos

The Nigerian Police have launched an investigation into alleged violations committed by officers attached to the Satellite City Division in Lagos State.

This follows the emergence of videos of the officers’ behavior on social media.

This was revealed by Force Media Officer, Aliyu Giwa, in a post on his X account, @aleeygiwa, on Saturday.

He said police acted immediately after the video was posted on April 4 by X user Rhapstar.

He wrote: “We saw the video, we acted, and this is where things stand.”

Giwa said the Divisional Police Officer and officers involved were called, statements were obtained, and interviews were conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

He said initial findings indicated the incident occurred in May 2025, and added that efforts were being made to obtain statements from the victims who were at the heart of the investigation.

“This process is not a cover-up; it is a demonstration of accountability,” he added.
