Police Arrest 10 Human Traders in Niger

Police operations in Niger have arrested 10 alleged members of international human trafficking syndicates in the state.

The police accuse that the suspects have acted as travel agents and traded victims who were not suspicious to various countries.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the news in a statement on Wednesday in Minna.

He said the suspects were arrested on July 18 after a credible intelligence in their 123 -quarter activities, Minna.

The spokesman registered the suspects as Sokou Doumbia, Thiarno Balbe, Hashima Dauda-Kolo, Usman Doumbia, Musa Konate, Lamine Watara, Racine Diouf, Adamu Zarbu, Alhassan Konde, and Dango Aminatu.

“They were found to be indigenous people from various neighboring countries of West Africa and could speak in French, except their Nigeria collaborator, Dauda-Kolo, which provided accommodation for syndicates in Minna and others.

“This operation also caused the rescue of 36 young men from various countries, such as Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina-Faso, and Guinea, without any documents.

“During the interrogation, the suspects claimed that they came to Nigeria for online business.

“The suspects and the victims have been transferred to Interpol for further investigation and other necessary actions,” Abiodun added.
