In a swift response to intelligence gathered, operatives of the Onikan Division, Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspect, Yakubu Yusuf, 28, for damaging part of the Third Mainland Bridge railing.
According to a statement released by the Lagos State Police on Wednesday, Yusuf’s arrest was facilitated by information received by the division about the nefarious activities of vandals operating in the Old Nursing School area near the bridge.
“Officers of the Onikan Division, acting on credible information, raided and arrested Yakubu Yusuf, and recovered 21 lengths of aluminum fencing,” read the statement posted on X.

The statement reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of citizens.
“We will not tolerate any form of vandalism or destruction of public property. Our officers are working tirelessly to identify and arrest other suspects involved in this nefarious activity,” he said.
The police chief appealed to the public to provide information if there is any suspicious activity, and currently his party is still investigating to catch other suspects who have fled.
