Police arrested Nigerians because of child trafficking in Australia

A Nigerian identified as Binta Abubakar was arrested by the Australian Federal Police for allegedly conducting trading students from Papua New Guinea.

The 56 -year -old man was arrested on Wednesday at Brisbane Airport after his arrival from his base in Papua Newini.

The arrest of Abubakar took part in an investigation by the North Command Human Trafficking Team, which launched an investigation into its activities in July 2022 after receiving instructions from the Queensland police.

According to the police, the woman had been watched to force students to do hard work on agriculture throughout Queensland with the guise of educational scholarships.

“Students are made to work 10 hours a day, seven days a week, while their wages are allegedly collected and detained by Abubakar to pay off what is called debt.

“Farmers do not know the scheme suspected of Abubakar.

When students refuse or fail to obey, Abubakar threatens to report them to immigration or intimidate their families at home in PNG.

“He is suspected of receiving wages on behalf of workers and arrested them.

“If they refuse to obey, Abubakar is suspected of threatening to make students deport or intimidate their families in PNG,” a police officer responsible for the case told the media.
