The police operation in IMO on Thursday arrested three suspects from indigenous peoples who were prohibited from Biafra (IPOB) in the state.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, who revealed this in a statement on Friday in Otower, said the suspects were arrested in hiding places in the Okigwe Regional Government in the state.
He added that the arrest followed “ongoing operational momentum to criminal elements that threaten public safety in the state.”
The spokesman said: “On April 17, 2025, around 0120 hours, the operation of the tactical team of command, synergized with the local judge group, acted based on credible intelligence and invaded IPOB/ESN hiding allegedly at Cameron Street, Delegation, in the local government area Okigwe.
“When they saw the operators, the suspects fired, resulting in a battle of weapons where three suspects were arrested.”
Okoye added that the other two fled to the bushes around him.
According to him, one AK-47 rifle, two pumping weapons, 18 living cartridges, mobile devices, laptops, and N10.3 million cash were found from the scene.
“Investigations revealed that the money was donated by IPOB members to finance terrorism,” he said.
