Police invite Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh for questioning

The Nigerian Police have confirmed the invitation of popular Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, to the Police Headquarters for questioning.

The actress was summoned in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the invitation was issued on the direction of the Inspector General of the Police Monitoring Unit. The unit is currently handling the case, which has attracted significant public attention due to the actress’s high-profile status.

The invitation letter dated August 5, 2024, signed by the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, DCP AA Elleman, stated that Dikeh’s name appeared prominently in the investigation.

The actress was asked to appear at the Police Headquarters on August 7, 2024 to provide clarification on the allegations against her.

It reads, “This office is investigating a case of defamation, forgery, lying, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector General of Police, in which your name and others appear prominently.

“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the signatory of this letter through SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on 7th August 2024 at 10:00 am to provide further information regarding the allegations.

“Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.”

ACP Adejobi said Dikeh was invited as a result of a petition against him. The ACP also confirmed that he was later released while investigations continued.

“He was only invited to respond to the petition filed against him, and he has left the unit, while the investigation continues.”
