Nigeria’s police forces have recorded another turning point in its continuous efforts to combat illegal weapons and other forms of violent crime across the country.
Force Public Relation Officer, the DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who revealed it in a statement on Monday, said that the command agents of the State of Katsina intercepted two arms runners along the road of the Ingawa -Karkarku village, in the state of Katsina.
DCP Adejobi, who identified suspicions such as Abdussalam, 25 and Aminu 23, both males from the local government area of ββSafana, in the state of Katsina, said he had been arrested following a credible intelligence on their activities.
He said that a search on their operating vehicle, a blue volkswagen golf with Reg no RSH-528 BC, led to the recovery of the following hidden exhibitions inside the vehicle: a machine gun for general use (GPMG), 1.063 shots of 7,62x39mm Ak-47 amunition
The force spokesperson stated that preliminary investigations indicated that illegal weapons and ammunition were taken from Hadejia in the state of Jigawa in Safana LGA in the State of Katsina for the distribution to famous criminal elements.

“The suspicions were brought to custody by the police for an in -depth investigation to discover the source, the destination network and the possible affiliations of the recovered weapons,” he said.
He mentioned the police inspector, PGI Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, while praising gallantry and the rapid response of the agents and encourages them to support time.
The IGP reiterated the commitment of the force to dismantle all forms of organized criminal networks operating across the country.
He urged the members of the public to continue to support force with timely and credible information that can help guarantee lives and properties.
