Police Officer Arrested For Car Theft In Kogi – TrendyNewsReporters

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of a police inspector, Aminu Muhammed, for alleged car theft.

Confirming the arrest to journalists, police command spokesperson William Ayah said the accused robbed three houses in an area near his filling station, ‘C’ Division in Lokoja, the state capital.

Ayah added that the state Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct.

He revealed that the inspector’s luck ran out following the adventures of a notorious gang specialising in the theft of household goods and cars from state homes.

The stolen car was recovered from the body shop of the policeman, who was already working to change the color of the car in Ochadamu, Ofu Local Government Area.
Anyone who knew the vehicle and was aware of the robbery that took place in the owner’s home on June 14, 2024, immediately raised the alarm as soon as they saw the car.
The car’s license plate had already been changed to an Abuja number, while the officer presented a car dealer’s receipt, backdated to 2020, as proof of purchase.
His body shop had prepared the car to be changed in colour before the alarm was raised and officers from the Quick Response Unit (QRU) of Idaho Police Area Command arrested him.
Upon reaching Lokoja Division “A”, where the QRU had picked up the arrested sheet metal worker, it was discovered that the criminals who had committed the robbery had already been arrested for committing another crime.
One of the members of the gang of armed robbers, who is also wanted by the police for other crimes, confessed to committing the robbery and named the police officer as the mastermind.

He confessed that they had been tasked with robbing the car owner’s house with the sole purpose of recovering the car for the inspector.
