A coalition of high retired police officers announced its intention to stage what described as the “father of all peaceful protests” on September 29, in Abuja, asking for their exit from the contribution of the contribution (CPS).
The group, under the aegis of the association of retired police officers pursuant to the CPS, said he had appealed to protest after years of failed commitments with government agencies, including the National Assembly, the Police General Inspector (IGP) and the National Pension Commission (Pencom).
A reminder signed by the president of the group protest committee, the elderly Greg Amayo, according to a report by the national newspaper, said that retirees were subjected to unspeakable difficulties pursuant to CPS.
They insisted on the fact that only a complete retreat from the scheme would have faced their situation.
According to the recommendations of the Committee, the protest would begin at the gates of the National Assembly and would be indefinite until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has agreed to a bill that grants their exit from the regime.
The organizers have directed state chapters near Abuja, including Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Kaduna and Kwara, to mobilize a large number of participants.
At least 30 pensioners are also expected by the metropolis of Abuja, while other states have had the task of sending no less than 10 members each.
To finance the protest, each state chapter is in charge of contributing with N100,000 to a central bag, with the individual recommended members to donate a minimum of N3.000.
The pensioners were also invited to seek financial support from friends, supporters and officials to the service.
The plan includes the intake of canopy on the protest site, the supply of kitchen utensils, carpets and sleeping materials, as well as signs with concise messages. State chapters must also produce protest banners for the exhibition.
The Committee stressed that the event would be led by the Police Head of the Police Manner Mannir Lawal Zaria, who led their last protest.
By refusing the proposals made by PGI and Pencom on the pension reform, retirees promised to remain on the protests until their requests were satisfied.
“We will not leave the scene even if the bill is approved by the National Assembly until the president signs it in law,” said the Committee.
The group concluded his reminder with a commitment of unity, declaring: “Star habit, Victoria Acerta”. (The nation)
