The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed as false reports of the kidnapping of 11 persons at Amechi-Idodo area of ββthe Enugu/Abakaliki Expressway on Wednesday.
Command spokesman Daniel Ndukwe said in a statement on Friday in Enugu that the report was aimed at creating panic in the state.
Ndukwe said the stance given in the online publication was a total distortion of the facts surrounding the attempted kidnapping incident along the road.
The spokesman indicated that a joint security team moved to the Enugu/Ebonyi State border point along the highway after receiving reports of criminal activities and rescued passengers of a commercial bus in the area.

He said: “Therefore, they rescued 13 passengers of the Nissan commercial bus. However, three others, who fled into nearby bushes during the attack, are yet to be found.
βThe Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the continuation of the ongoing operation to locate and rescue the three missing victims and also hunt down the attackers.
βThe commissioner also warned journalists and publishers to always verify facts before publishing news.β
