Police Rescue Chairman PDP, 36 other kidnapped people in Edo

Police operations in Edo have saved 37 kidnapped people, including the Chairperson of the Democratic Party (PDP) in the area of ​​the West Esan Regional Government in the state, in a series of bold operations in all states.

Commissioner of State Police, Monday Agbonika, revealed this on Wednesday in Benin City, during the press briefing to show his achievements within 30 days after the assumption of the position.

He said the victims were rescued without ransom payments but through operations led by coordinated intelligence.

Agbonika said that the Chairperson of the PDP, was kidnapped on April 15 while working on his agriculture at Emu Forest, rescued on May 7 after days of intense pursuit by the police and allied security agents.

CP said: “37 This rescue is a direct result of collaborative shrub operations involving the military, air force, civilian defense, local hunters, and guards.”

“In the first 30 days I was in the office, the command had found 25 firearms, including two AK-47 rifles, and arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and 95 suspects of robbery.

“Other items were found, including 165 rounds of live ammunition, Mercedes-Benz GLK 300, Toyota Hilux trucks, Toyota Highlander, Motorcycles, and N115,000 cash.”

In the crisis of farmers in several parts of the state, Agbonika acknowledged that the situation was complicated but could be managed.

He stressed the need for intentional efforts to rebuild the trust between farmers and shepherds.

“We reform the main judge’s own structure to ensure that local security clothing only operates in their community and with appropriate supervision,” he said.
