Police rescue kidnapped woman in Enugu

Police agents in Enugu State have rescued a kidnapped woman and killed a suspect in Udenu Local Government Area of ​​the state.

State Command Spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Enugu.

He said the woman was rescued on Friday.

The evidence listed on Ndukwe recovered from the gang included five rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition, one long machete, one short dagger, four mobile phones and four torch lights.

Others are two power banks, two memory cards, cash amounting to N51,700, assorted foodstuffs, spoons, clothing materials, face coverings and other items.

“Rescue operations were carried out following the receipt of credible information regarding the abduction of the victim at around 3.30pm in Ezimo Community in Udenu Local Government Area.

“Under the direction of Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Giwa, Divisional Police Officers (DPO) Udenu Division immediately deployed a joint security team.

“The team comprised police officers, Nigerian Army soldiers, Environmental Watch and Forest Guards, who trailed the suspects to Agu Orba Forest along Ohebe-Orba axis in Udenu Local Government Area.

“On seeing the perpetrators, the thugs opened fire, but the perpetrators responded with very heavy firepower, incapacitating one of the suspects, while the others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

“As a result, the abducted victim was rescued unharmed, briefed and reunited with his family,” the spokesperson said.
