Police agents in Ondo have rescued five passengers kidnapped in an armed robbery incident in the state.
The victims were taken away by suspected armed robbers along Ondo Road in the early hours of Thursday.
Spokesman of the state police command, Abayomi Jimoh, said in a statement on Thursday in Akure that the incident occurred at 5.20am.
Jimoh explained that the passengers were in a commercial vehicle on their way from Ondo to Akure, when they were intercepted and taken into the bush by armed robbers to take their belongings.

“Following a quick response to the distress call, Ondo State Security Network joint command operatives, Amotekun Corps, carried out a targeted operation which resulted in the successful rescue of the victims from the bush, unharmed.
Meanwhile, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery and they have been identified as Akinyemi Olamilekan ‘m’; Mutaka Ali ‘m’ and Atiku Abubakar ‘m’.
“The suspects have made useful statements that assist the investigation and will be charged to court upon its conclusion.” said the spokesperson.
