Population Doctors to decide on national strikes because the government failed to respond to the ultimatum

The Nigerian Resident Doctor Association (NARD) will hold a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) today (Wednesday) to negotiate in the next step after the ultimatum that has not been fulfilled issued to the Federal Government.

Ten days ago, the association issued a final warning to the relevant authority, threatening national strikes if the government failed to overcome their old demands. The towering decision came when the excessive Nigerian public health care system had been bent under inadequate infrastructure pressure, a number of depleting medical professionals, and crowded facilities.

DOCTORS OF POPULATION – Who formed the backbone of medical care at the Federal Hospital and the Center -Specialist Center – has carried out several attacks in recent years, protesting unpaid salaries, poor working conditions, and neglect of welfare. Health analysts remind that other strikes can greatly interfere with service delivery, encourage patients to expensive private alternatives, and deepen the country’s health care crisis.

In a communicate released on September 1, 2025, and signed by President Nard, Dr. Osundara Top; Secretary General, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku; and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Omoha Amobi, the association outlines the list of unliled demands. This includes immediate release from 2025 Medical Residence Training Fund, the completion of arrears for five months after a review of 25-35 percent of the consolidated medical salary structure (conmess), and other extraordinary salary problems.

Other main demands highlighted in this document are payment of the 2024 receipt of arrears, disbursement of rapid specialist allowances, and recovery of recognition for the West African Postgraduate Membership Certificate.

In addition, Nard asked the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria to issue certificates to all candidates who qualified, enforce Conmess 2024, and resolve critical welfare issues that affect doctors in the Kaduna State and in the Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

Speaking ahead of the NEC meeting, President Nard Dr. Osundara stated, “We hold our NEC meeting tomorrow (today), and the results will determine our next action. At the meeting, we will review whether the government has made significant progress to overcome our demands. If there is a positive response, it will guide our decision, but if not, the council will take the stance in the next steps, including the next steps, including the next steps, including the Lops Next.

Also confirmed the agenda, the first vice president, Dr. Tajudeen Abdulrauf, emphasized the potential of national attacks if the government failed to act. The results of the meeting will depend on the government’s response to our demands. If they are not handled, we cannot guarantee the harmony of the industry, and the strike remains. Remember, we gave a three -week ultimatum in July and expanded it. In the spirit of dialogue, “he secured.

All eyes are now focused on NEC decisions, which can determine whether the State General Hospital is permanent to functional or enter other paralysis periods.
