Posses admit the pain of losing the competitive debut for Super Eagles

The Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers, has expressed his disappointment for his continuous wait to make a competitive debut for Nigeria, despite being involved with the national team since 2020.

The 30 -year -old striker, who made his first appearance in a friendly against Tunisia in October 2020, has accumulated seven caps for Nigeria, all in non -competitive matches.

Despite these appearances, the pose remain without limit in an official match and has not yet been presented in an important tournament for the three times African champions.

Nigeria has already been classified for the 2025 Africa Cup in Morocco, and the striker hopes that he will finally be part of the team for the continental masterpiece.

However, the absence of an appearance of Tit-Tying means that despair remain technically eligible to represent Belgium, although he has publicly promised his total commitment to Nigeria.

Speaking to Modzero Sport in London, the poses opened on their international frustrations:

“Sometimes it hurts, you feel disappointed. I have been in the team and about five years and I have not yet played in an official game, only friendly games, so I must say that it hurts.

“On the other hand, there are always many different factors. Of course, you have some strikers, such as Victor Osimhen, which is a clear number one.

“It always depends on the form, on the options, in personal opinion, but I would say that the two Affons that I lost a lot hurt because at that time I felt in my shape, I had a place in the team.”

The Rangers striker noticed the intense competition for attacking places in the Super Eagles, especially with players like Victor Osimhen leading the line and the constantly emerging talents.

“I don’t like world competition because I think we all have the same goal here in the national team,” he said.

“You see that some additional strikers appeared again, Tolu (Arokodare) had an incredible season with Genk in Belgium, so new talents always approach.”

Posses, however, remains optimistic, reflecting on their personal growth:

“For me personally, I have had a very good season, I am very happy with that. I improved this season, stronger, more experienced, quieter in my head, so I hope to show that and take that to the national team too.”
