President General Ohanaze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, has requested the President of the Tinubu Bola to free the leader of the Biafra Indigenous Peoples (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, said there was no more justification to keep the Biafran agitator from remaining in detention.
Senator Azuta-Mbata who appealed in a video posted on X on Thursday said there was an urgent need for the government led by Tinubu to free Kanu so that he could seek medical treatment immediately.
In the video, President General Ohanaze said the continuous detention of Kanu by the government without proper access to health care placed his welfare on great risks and called for rapid political solutions.
“I call Ndigbos, and IGBOS in general, wherever you are in Nigeria to quickly leave and take advantage of the ongoing voter registration training now. Go and take your card as quickly as possible.
“Secondly, I want to call the Federal Nigerian government to quickly release Nnamdi Kanu. The government has no serious advantage in guarding it.
“It is important that the government ensures its safety and welfare, and that the government must allow it to go and get medical treatment as quickly as possible.
“The government must adopt political solutions to this situation. I do not believe that the government has a serious advantage in making it further,” said the leader of the Apex IGBO socio-cultural organization.
His call came after the new concern for the deteriorating health of Kanu when in detention which has caused many people to withdraw his release for reasons of health or that he must be referred to a better medical facility for adequate care.
