“If Fubara joins the APC, it means that the possibilities of the president of winning spar state are much higher,” he said.

The African relationship stated that the foreign godfather of Fubara, Nyesom Wike, was not part of the meeting and was uncomfortable with these meetings that take place behind him.

However, Tinubbu is expected through a meeting between Fubara, Wike and the legislators of the Rivers State to find a lasting solution to the crisis in the state.

Background

The president had March 18, 2025, declared the state of emergency in the state of the rivers for six months, a few hours after the explosion of two oil pipelines.

Security officials have traced the explosion to a longtime feud between the governor Fubara and 27 state legislators who are faithful to Wike, the current minister of federal capital.

State legislators had, at the bottom of Wike, decided to question the governor for constitutional violations, including the alleged bombing of the State Parliament building.

With Nigeria based on oil revenues for about 60% of government revenues and 90% of its changes, the Tinubu administration has decided to declare a state of emergency to save the state from descent into anarchy.

He followed by appointing the former naval head IBOK-ETE IBAS as the only administrator of the state of spinners with full powers to act as a governor.

The move was criticized by organized work, by the opposition, by the association of Nigerian lawyers and various media organizations.

The former vice -president and leader of the opposition Atiku Abubakar described the move as a power socket in view of the 2027 elections.

But Tinubu claimed to have the constitutional power to declare a state of emergency even if he had criticized President Olusegun Obasanjo when he embarked on a similar action in 2005. The Tinubu declaration was approved by Parliament.

From the suspension of Fubara, however, there have been weekly protests in the state of sparrows and in the cases established in court, but the governor was criticized for not having taken a harder position.

In his Easter message, Governor Fubara invited the people of Rivers State to continue supporting Tinubu.
