PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR PEACE AND CIVILIZATION IN EDO STATE GOVERNOR ELECTIONS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on all stakeholders in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election to conduct themselves in a peaceful and sportsmanlike manner. The elections are scheduled for Saturday 21 September 2024.

The President implores gubernatorial candidates, political parties and supporters to respect the democratic process and the will of the people. He believes in the ability of voters to make informed decisions about their future leaders.

President Tinubu stresses that democracy is based on civility, tolerance, patience and respect for the rules of the game. It notes that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is committed to conducting free and fair elections and urges all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful and successful process.

The President commends the governorship candidates and political parties for their campaigns, which have focused on issues that matter most to the people of Edo State, including improving livelihoods, promoting economic growth and contribution to national development.

Urges all citizens of the state to remain peaceful and respectful throughout the voting process. It encourages them to resolve any disagreements amicably through the established authorities.

Furthermore, President Tinubu expresses unwavering confidence in the professionalism and integrity of security agencies and INEC officials. It urges them to remain impartial and avoid any action that could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
