The presidency rejected a viral relationship that suggests that President Bola Tinubu fired the defense and power ministers.
There have been widespread internet relations by stating that the president closed the appointment of “defense and power ministers”.
Reacting to the report, special consultant to the president for information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who took his X (previously Twitter) late late at night described the relationship as false.
Onanoga as he complained about the rise of false news, he urged the security agencies to take decisive actions against those who behind these falsehoods.
“The security agencies must act urgently against websites and false news platforms and the suppliers who cannot control the authenticity of the stories and make them viral,” said Omanuga.
He warned that the unbridled manufacture of stories under the mask of freedom of the press represents a serious threat to democracy and social cohesion.
“Freedom of the press and freedom of speech will not exist when some people can wake up and invent their news and narratives without regard to the truth. False news is simply licentiousness and must be criminalized,” added Omanuga.
