Prison officials told House Reps why Bobrisky was not locked up in a public cell

A prison representative has revealed to the House of Representatives why crossdresser Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky is not locked up in a communal cell.

The prison officials appeared before a Joint Committee of the House of Representatives investigating allegations of corruption against some officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

DCC Michael Anuga while testifying before a House of Representatives investigative panel on Monday said that Bobrisky was not placed in a general cell at Kirikiri Maximum Prison because she had female characteristics, including breasts.

”During his confession, we discovered that Idris had a peculiarity that did not allow us to place him in a public apartment. Idris Okuneye Olanrewaju has female characteristics. She has breasts.”

DCC Anuga further stated that a medical professional was invited to carry out tests on the controversial transgender woman and after completing the examination he stated that she (Bobrisky) did have breasts.

”With this recognition, the board should hold a meeting to discuss how best to manage it. We concluded that we had to put him in protective custody. He spent his time in ward B 2 of the facility and was alone in that room. The reason we do this is because we have to comply with international best practices and comply with our laws.”
