Promise Uwaeme has been re -elected as president of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the ninth edition of the Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup, marking his sixth consecutive mandate at the head of one of the most famous football tournaments in the region.
Recognized for its visionary leadership, Uwaeme has been fundamental in transforming the Unity Cup into the main base soccer competition of Gombe South. Its innovative strategies and their passion for community development have turned the tournament into a vital platform for the discovery of talents and youth empowerment.
Reacting to his re -election, Uwaeme said:
“This is another opportunity to serve the people of Gombe South. This is what we love to do. I agree to serve everything I have.”
Beyond its role with the Unity Cup, Uwaeme has continued based on its credentials in the football administration. In March 2025, he completed a VAR technicians/operators course in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. More recently, in June, it became an instructor of national technical referee certified after an intensive training session in Abuja, solidifying more its technical experience in the game.
Preparations for the ninth edition are already moving. The activities will begin in August with a Capacity Development Seminar for LOC members, followed by a press conference to officially open the team’s records.
While Uwaeme’s return as president of LOC has been confirmed, the complete list of committee members will be announced in the next few days.
