Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, blamed those pushing for the imposition of a state of emergency in the state for the failure of the explosion in the state capital.
Loud explosions were heard near the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt during a protest march by some political leaders supporting the police occupation of 23 local council secretariats in the state.
Rivers State is rocked by crisis over the refusal of local council chairmen to vacate their offices after their terms expire.
The Governor, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, spoke when a delegation of the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization led by its chairman, Orji Uzor Kalu, visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt,
He accused the protesters of knowing that the lawmaker was staying at the hotel.

The protesters, he said, planned to detonate explosives to get lawmakers to support the call to declare a state of emergency in Rivers.
Fubara said: “Actually, let me say, I know everything that happened. Yesterday (Tuesday), they (the protesters) knew that you were in that state.
“So, there is an attempt to create serious problems. In fact, there was a plan to blow up dynamite at the Presidential Hotel because you were there.
“But this God that we worship, it happened that the person who tried to do it blew him up, but just a few seconds later, his hand was destroyed.
“The idea is that when you listen to the emergency, then by the time the emergency is over when you come back to your seat on Thursday, the debate will come from someone from this state calling you to tell you. won’t come.
“He will now raise the issue of the state of emergency and say, however, his esteemed colleagues saw it happen when they were in Rivers state, that they saw what happened.”
