A group of protesters stormed the Head Office of the Trust Guarantee Bank in Abuja on Monday to demand the release of social media activists, Martins Otse alias Verydarkman (VDM).
VDM was arrested by operators of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in GTB in Abuja last Friday.
The protesters stormed the banks in large quantities and carried placards with inscriptions such as “activism not a sin,” “VDM is a” loading “of the masses and” VDM does not commit violations, “among others.

They also dance with songs and sing “#freevdm.”
A former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, on Sunday condemned the arrest of social media activists.
In a statement he shared in a verified X account, Obi said the VDM method was carefully captured to resemble the kidnapping.
“This new development in our country continues to cause serious concerns about the direction that we encourage as democracy. Tensions in the country, exacerbated by difficulties, do not need to be triggered by our attitude towards the rule of law and human rights,” wrote the Head of the Labor Party.
