The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced an Ansaru Terror Group Commander, Mahmud Usman, a 15 -year prison sentence for illegal mining.
Judge Emeka Nwite conveyed the verdict after Usman, alias Abu Bara’a/Abbas Mukhtar, pleaded guilty to count 10 of the 32-calculations of the accusation of terrorism that was preferred about him and his representative commander, Abubakar Abba, alias Isah Adam/Mahmud Al-Nigeri, by the Federal Government.
The judge also ordered prisoners to be returned in custody of the State Service Department (DSS) while waiting for his trial for 31 accusations where he claimed to be innocent.

The order followed the application by the federal government advisor, MB Abubakar, who was the director of the public prosecution of the federation, citing national security issues.
The federal government in a matter of 10, accused Usman and ABBA involved in illegal mining between 2015 and 2025.
Violations, according to the Federal Government, can be punished by part 8 (b) of other laws of violations, LFN 2004.
Although Usman pleaded guilty to count 10, ABBA, it was different when the accusation was read to them.
The judge as a result postponed this problem until September 21 to be tried.
