Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will hold an important peak meeting at Alaska on Friday, with Kremlin confirms that the resolution of the Ukraine conflict will be the main focus of their discussion.
The first meeting between the US and Russian presidential sitting since 2021 when Trump positioned himself to mediate the end of Moscow’s military offensive for almost three and a half years in Ukraine.
“It might be clear to everyone that the central topic will be a resolution of the Ukraine crisis,” Kremlin’s aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Thursday.

Ushakov added that the two leaders would also discuss “broader problems to ensure peace and security, as well as urged international and regional problems.”
According to Kremlin, the conversation will begin in Alaska at 11:30 am local time (1930 GMT) with one-one session attended only by Putin, Trump, and their translator. This will be followed by expanded negotiations between the two delegates during the functioning breakfast.
The Russian delegation will include Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, and Top Economic Negotiator Kirill Dmitriev.
After the conversation, Putin and Trump will hold a joint press conference to “summarize the results of negotiations,” said Ushakov. This will mark the appearance of the first joint press by US and Russian leaders since 2018, when Putin last met Trump in Helsinki.
