The President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has strongly appealed to religious authorities to pray for divine intervention to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a poor start of campaign.

With just three points from their first four games (including a 2-1 setback to neighbors Benin in their last away game in Abidjan), the Super Eagles currently find themselves in a worrying fifth place.

While Nigeria are fifth in their Group C qualifying section, Rwanda are currently top with seven points from four games and a better goal difference ahead of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, who also have seven points from four games.
Incidentally, Benin Republic is third in the group with seven points from four games, while Lesotho is fourth with five points from four and Zimbabwe is bottom of the table with two points from four games.
