Registration Varsity killed in Ondo

The Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (Unimed), the state of Ondo, Ezekiel Imole Adeniran, was killed in his residence in the city of Ondo.

Reports reported that Adeniran, who assumed the assignment as a third substantial registrar of the University on January 6, 2025, was found dead in his residence of Ondo Town in the early hours of Thursday 17 July 2025.

The head of the media and the protocol of the University, Isaac Oluyi, in a declaration, described the sudden death of the Registration as shocking and painful.

Olyi said: “The devastating news left the entire university community in mourning.

“He was present at work on Monday 14 July. The circumstances of his death remain unclear at this point.”

Oloyi further paid tribute to Adniran’s commitment to the institution, saying: “He served with dedication and integrity until his premature death.

“Our thoughts are with his family in this difficult moment. Its soul can rest in peace.”

In the meantime, the State Police Command of Ondo has confirmed that the chancellor was assassinated.

The command spokesman, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, told journalists that the case was reported in the Fanibi division, saying that investigations were underway.

Ayanlade said: “From the initial results, according to what was reported two men emerged from a nearby bush and forced an unknown substance in the mouth of another individual.

“We are studying the complete circumstances surrounding the attack.”
