Relief for Iheanacho while the goal drought in Middlesbrough’s victory ends

Kelechi Iheanacho finally opened his goal account for Middlesbrough, breaking a long dry period that had affected his season in his 2-1 victory over Oxford United at Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

The former Leicester City striker has struggled to find his balance since he left the King Power Stadium last summer.

His transfer to Seville was not as planned, since he failed to have an impact before lending Middlesbrough in January.

After following seven games of the league without a goal, Iheanacho found the network in the Middlesbrough clash against Oxford United in the EFL championship.

Oxford United took the lead in the 38th minute through Michal Helik, placing Middlesbrough on the back of the back in the half time.

But only three minutes after the restart, Iheanacho finally ended his goal drought, finding the background of the network with an assistance from Samuel Iling-Junior.

The impulse changed in favor of Boro, and completed the change in the 80th minute when Net Borges dismissed the winning beo again assisted by Iing-Junior.

With the victory, Boro moved to the seventh place, keeping their hopes of playoffs alive.

His dedication has not gone unnoticed, with Carrick praising his commitment and work ethics.

“That is what is needed now. Kel is definitely a large part of the group and important due to their experience and character.

“The way he trains and makes his business, is a good example for the younger boys. He has taken some games to reach 100 percent in terms of sharpness and physical state, but I am sure he will have a great impact for us between now and the end of the season.”

If Iheanacho can take advantage of this advance, I could still play a key role in the impulse of Middlesbrough for promotion as the season approaches its climax.
