Reno Omokri, Dele Momodu continue subtle war on Tinubu

The subtle and insulting war of words between former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide Reno Omokri and veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation International Magazine Dele Momodu may not end anytime soon following the resumption of hostilities.

The resumption of the war was initiated by Omokri in a post on X on Monday in which he compared bandits and criminals who are loyal to their comrades to politicians and Christians who are disloyal to their principals and pastors.

With an old photo of President Bola Tinubu next to a photo of Momodu when they were political allies, Omokri wrote:

“When Bandits Are More Loyal to Each Other Than Priests”

“You can’t be a good Christian if you can’t be a good friend. It’s impossible. How can people in cults, fraternities, and occult groups be more loyal to each other than the people who are supposed to be leaders in the body of Christ?

“Anini and Monday Osunbor showed more love for each other than some Pastors. And these bandits who are now plaguing the Northwest have a bond of love greater than some in households whose foundation should be love. We saw how they welcomed Sheikh Gumi. They were humble and respectful to him even when covered in bullets and brandishing guns.

“You have to be able to stand by your friends in good times and bad. No matter what someone has done to you, because they helped you, you have to restrain yourself. Let others hit them if they deserve it. Not you.

“These pastors should learn from Peter Obi. Peter Obi can NEVER achieve anything politically in Nigeria because he is a serial traitor to his benefactors.

“Perhaps their association with Obi had a contagious effect on them.

“And this is my major gripe with Egbon Dele Momodu. Despite the fact that he and President Bola Tinubu are now on different political sides, he should have respected their decades-long friendship and whatever he wanted to say to him could have been said in private instead of going public.

“There is a man in Peter Obi’s camp who I can’t even attack because of how good he has been to me in the past. Peter Obi wouldn’t be the Labour Party’s presidential candidate without him. However, if this man burps in front of me, I will say, ‘E pele sir!'”

“I’m not kidding. That’s how I was raised. If something was white and my dad said it was black, I would openly agree with my dad.

“What these pastors are doing is like me using pen and paper to publicly denounce Waziri Atiku Abubakar. Why? When I have many ways to contact him privately and through representatives.

“You have each other’s contact details. Say what you have in private. When you say something in public about those who are or are not your benefactors, you are just showing that you are no better than politicians who can be in the People’s Democratic Party now and then jump to the All Progressives Congress and start badmouthing their former party.

“My speaking of friendship should not be interpreted as supporting attacks by God’s people on other God’s people. You yourself caused this. However, two wrongs do not make a right.
Whoever the hat suits, let him wear it.”

However, shortly after the post appeared, Momodu launched another subtle attack without mentioning any names, but social media users were quick to figure out who he was targeting in his comments.

Titled, “WHEN SOME NAMES LEAVE A SOUR TASTE IN THE MOUTH…” Momodu said:

“It takes a madman to deliberately equate loyalty to a MAN with loyalty to a country…

“Husbands and wives disagree and even break up because of irreconcilable differences… Children and parents sometimes disagree very strongly…

“All political leaders are friends but differ on certain principles… Democracy is a game of choice and not of violence…

‘It takes a serial blackmailer with bipolar symptoms to try to take down every imaginary enemy in sight…

“It takes maggots to eat their own vomit… It takes a pig to constantly seek an opponent to wrestle in the mud… We will continue to intercede to save every troubled soul…

“If you know such a person, let us increase our prayers…”
