Reno Omokri slams Nigerians who criticize Seyi Tinubu for attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Justice of Nigeria

Reno Omokri has taken on Nigerians who openly criticized Seyi Tinubu’s presence in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja at the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria last Friday, August 23. On Monday, August 26, X-users posted a photo showing Seyi sitting comfortably at the event and questioned his presence at the event. They argued that he should not have been there because he is not a government official. However, in a post shared on Instagram, Reno said that those criticizing Seyi were foolish. He argued that presidents of Western countries have on several occasions had their sons represent them at state functions. He went on to insinuate that those criticizing Seyi did not have good relations with their fathers. Her post reads: “This is a photo of Chelsea Clinton and the then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Uwais. Please check the facts: Chelsea officially represented her mother, Hillary Clinton, the then First Lady of the United States, during this state visit of her father, President Bill Clinton, to Nigeria in 2000. Ivanka Trump was a Senior Advisor to her father, President Donald Trump, from 2017 to 2021. Mark Thatcher was on his mother’s trade delegation to Saudi Arabia in 1985, when he went to promote British companies. And his company made a profit of £12 million. Please check the facts. George W Bush traveled with his twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, on official trips. So, it is foolish to attack President Tinubu because his son, Seyi, was at the Presidential Villa during the swearing-in of the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. He did not represent his father or the First Lady. He was not appointed to office by his father. And he was not awarded any contract by the Federal Government. How can his mere presence at an oath be a crime or wrong? Yes, at meetings where the cabinet manages the affairs of Nigeria, he has no right to be there. However, the swearing in of Supreme Court justices and members of the Federal Cabinet is a public event. Family members and friends of those who are to be sworn in are allowed to attend the event. It is not a big deal. Do not transfer your aggression to the President and his son simply because you did not have or do not have a good relationship with your father. What they have done in this Kekere-Ekun matter is completely lawful. Let us stop focusing on secondary things!
