The House of Representatives has approved 10 -year security protection for Umar Audu investigation journalists, following his presentation on the expanding certificate of extortion operations involving a degree factory in the Benin Republic.
Investigations that disguise audu, who have sent waves of surprises through the state, revealed the syndicate that facilitated the sale of university certificates that were not accepted to the Nigerians. Surprisingly, many of these fraud certificates were then cleaned by government agencies, including the Ministry of Education.
Gravity the situation has encouraged joint investigations by the DPR Committee at the University, Polytechnic, Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Youth Development.
Rep. Abubakar Fulata, Chair of the Committee, announced the direction of the DPR, stated, “We thank Audu for his courage. We urge the Minister of Home Affairs to ensure that civil defense provides support that is necessary with the police,” emphasized the DPR’s commitment to the safety of audu for the next decade.
In his testimony before the Committee, Audu detailed the convenience he obtained the title of the University of Benin Republik without attending the class, revealed that the fraud certificate was then cleaned by the Ministry of Education at a cost of N40,000.

Reacting to these revelations, the Minister of the Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Supi-ojo, advocated for systemic changes, stating, “such mistakes do not occur under this government. However, a united and automatic portal is very important to curb this threat,” While also offering an apology, “We are very sorry anomalies and relevant collaboration.
Minister of Education, Mr. Olatunji Alausa, represented by a director at the Ministry, Mrs. Larai Ahmed, who confirmed that the action was being taken. “The department responsible for cleaning the audu certificate has been overhauled, and stronger steps are being implemented to prevent violations in the future,” Ahmed said.
Also appeared before the committee, Director General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, revealed that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has taken steps to strengthen the verification process. “Our verification system is now stronger, and we have initiated reforms to prevent any recurrence,” Nafiu convincingly, added, “We are very sorry for anomaly and collaborating with relevant agencies.”
The DPR Committee also revealed that they were committed to conducting a thorough investigation of the scandal and upholding the reforms needed to protect the integrity of the Nigerian education system and public services.
