Reps warns the falsification of certificates, to curb extortion

The House of Representatives Committee investigated the alleged extortion of certificates in Nigeria has warned of falsification and other crimes in the country.

The Chair of the Committee, Abubakar Fulata, issued a warning in a statement on Saturday after a week’s supervisory visit to relevant government agencies in Abuja.

He said the committee had vowed to curb a disturbing trend with severe steps and sanctions for anyone who felt like to function as a prevention for others.

The MPs emphasized that the law would endanger the country’s education sector if left uncontrollable.

Fulata said: “Any country underestimates education under the future and future generations, because it remains the basis of the development of a country.

“Supervision visits to relevant government institutions are not witch hunting, but to ensure compliance with legal provisions in connection with quality education.”

He showed that the committee took its strength from the DPR resolution, which mandated the investigation, following the accusation of extracting certificates, which arose from revelation by an investigation journalist.
