The wave of fear has already hit the entire territory of the local government in the state of Sokoto as the leader of the famous bandit, Bello Turji, issued a terrible threat that caused the mass transfer of the population, especially in the city of Bafarawa.
Eyewitnesses and local sources said Turji had also delivered his warning to the nearest villages including Kamara, Arume, and Kagara, reportedly ordered residents to leave their home at 16:00 on Sunday or face deadly consequences.
“This exceeds another attack. This threat is calculated and organized. If nothing is done, more communities will fall under the siege,” said a desperate resident who fled from Bafarawa.
The threat has triggered widespread panic, with a fearful family evacuating flocking to escape from what they fear maybe the attack that will soon occur. Among other communities that are now restless are Surudubu, Gebe, Tsullawa, and Garin Fadama, all gripped by uncertainty when insecurity increases.
According to local sources from one of the affected villages, the latest fear only deepens the sense of neglect felt by many residents. “The protection of Turji that appears to be unknown to interfere,” said the source, criticizing what they described as a weak and fragmented government response.
Apart from this concern, the Sokoto state police command said he had taken action. Public relations officer, ASP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the distribution of officers to the problematic axis.
