The Rivers State Chapter from the Congress of All Progressive (APC) has urged the Federal Government to take a firm stand of the African Action Congress Candidate (AAC) in the 2023 general election, Omoyle Sowore, for his new remarks about the Tinubu Ball President and the Federal Capital Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued at Port Harcourt on Wednesday, APC State Chair, Tony Okocha, described Sowore’s comment as a defamation and an effort that was calculated to incite Nigerians towards the government. He argues that spreading falsehood with evil intentions is the same as “treasure” and cannot be accepted in democracy.
Sowore Baru -Newly called President Tinubu as a “criminal” and accused that Minister Wike used public funds to buy luxury property in Florida, United States. Okocha considers the accusation to be baseless, Branding Sowore “Traders of Disputers and Half -Truth Suppliers.”
“In every democracy, criticism is invited, but what must be rejected by the Nigerians is intentional lies, propaganda, and efforts to defame the guise of activism,” Okocha said.
He remembered Sowore’s past clashes with security institutions, including accusations of counterfeiting, false publications, virtual crimes, and defamation, as well as his role in the 2019 #Revolutionnow Protest, which called for mass demonstrations against the government. According to Okocha, such actions show that sowore “is more anarchist than patriot.”
The Chairman of the APC further highlighted the achievements of the administration of President Tinubu, citing economic reforms, infrastructure development, and stabilization of Naira. He noted that projects such as Lagos -Calabar Expressway were progressing, urged the Nigerians to “celebrate the President’s steps rather than giving confidence to extortion.”
Okocha concluded that Sowore’s criticism “died at the time of arrival” and had no trustworthy evidence, insisted that the Nigerians would only respond to the facts that could be verified, not allegations.
