Rivers Hoopers’ BAL Success Inspires Call for Nigerian League Revival

Rivers Hoopers have been outstanding, leading the Sahara Conference in Senegal and advancing to the championship playoffs in Rwanda, despite limited preparation due to the inconsistent domestic league.

Coach John expressed his hopes in a recent statement: “I pray and hope that the NBBF will take notice and decide to implement a full season this year.

“This would allow players and coaches to compete regularly, which is essential for preparation and development.”

He emphasized the importance of the NBBF’s response to the Hoopers’ success:
“I hope the NBBF is watching what is happening. They need to decide whether to continue with the same league structure we’ve had for the past six or seven years or make necessary adjustments.”

Rivers Hoopers are the first Nigerian side to reach the last four of BAL since the competition’s inception.
