Rivers United’s appointment has relieved the pain of premature retirement – Austin

Long serving Rivers United defender Festus Austin has stated that his appointment as Team Coordinator of the Porthacourt based Nigeria Professional Football League side has relieved what would have been pain of premature retirement after been advised against continuing his playing career following series of long drawn recurring injuries in the last four years.

Austin speaking in a chat with brila.net revealed that the decision to say goodbye was tough but had to heed such after been advised by his Doctor and coming just at the expiration of his contract.

He however added that he feels honoured to have been so recognised and found worthy to take up the position of Team Coordinator.
