Rivers Utd suffered a setback in the title of title

Rivers United experienced a setback in their competition for the title of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after defeat on Wednesday.

It was Bayelsa United who supported the United 1-0 river in their 31 match at the Samson Siacian Stadium in Yenagoa.

Kaninde Lawal struck in the 113th minute to secure the three points for the host, giving a setback to the ambition of the Rivers United title.

Still sitting in second place on the table, Finidi George’s team remained five points behind the League leaders Remo Stars.

In Umuahia, Warriors Abia strengthened their offer for a continent with a 2-0 win over the Stars lobby.

Sunday Megwo and Anthony Ijoma found a net for the home team.

Meanwhile, Kwara United won a 1-0 victory against Nasarawa United, thanks to the strike Determination of Lawal Abayomi in the 64th minute.

Former Heartland League champions extend their running without their victory to seven matches after being held with a goalless draw by the stars of sunlight at the Otunba Stadium Dipo Dina at Ijebu Ode.

Elsewhere, Kano pillars and bundle insurance played a 0-0 deadlock at Sani Abacha Stadium.
