The head coach of the national senior team of Benin Republic Gernot Rohr says he hopes that the FIFA deduce three points from South Africa for presenting an inelegable player in a group game of classification of the World Cup against Lesotho.
South Africa won the 2-0 game, but presented Teboho Mokoena, who was supposed to be suspended by the game after collecting two reservations in previous games. FIFA Situations like that have been found in the past with points deductions.
By having his experience with something similar for which the helm as coach of the national senior team of Nigeria, Rohr said it was a big surprise when they were told that Shehu Abdullahi, who played against Algeria in his game of qualifiers of the World Cup in Rubrio Dead, should not have played because he has collected two reservations previously.
“We (Nigeria) were lucky at that time we had already described. No one who even Algeria saw him come. So I hope FIFA makes the same decision that was in the case of Nigeria against South Africa for a similar crime,” Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.
If South Africa has docked points, it will reduce its advantage at the top against Benin Republic, who was defeated by the group’s leaders in the previous games. The gap will be reduced to only two points.
More worrying about South Africa is the fact that he will bring the gap with Nigeria three points with both teams ready to face in South Africa at the end of this year.
