Roma sack De Rossi after four games without a win

Serie A club AS Roma have sacked manager Daniele de Rossi just four games into the new Serie A season.

De Rossi was appointed manager in January to replace Jose Mourinho, who is currently at Fenerbahce in Türkiye.

Roma have failed to win any of their Serie A games this season, drawing three and losing at home to Empoli last month.

The club currently sits 16th in the Serie A standings after drawing 1-1 at Genoa on Sunday.

A club statement read: “The club’s decision was taken in the best interests of the team, to be able to continue on the desired path as soon as possible while the season is still in its early stages.

“To Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi club, a big thank you for the hard work he has done over the past few months with passion and dedication.”

Remember that De Rossi’s tenure at Roma started very well. In his first 11 league games, Roma lost just once, taking 26 points from a possible 33. That win took Roma from ninth to fifth in the standings.

They also reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, being knocked out by Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
