Rory Mcilroy has completed the Grand Slam’s career in Golf with his victory in the US Masters tournament.
The Masters is the last major tournament left for Mcilroy to complete the Modern Grand Slam Golf – an achievement that was only managed by five others before him.
McilroyThose who made the 11th effort to complete the Grand Slam, dealing with Justin Rose in a sudden playoff to decide the Masters champion, after they finished being tied to 11 below at the end of the regulation on Sunday.
‘Very difficult to stay patient’
Speaking at a press conference after his victory, Mcilroy said: “You must be optimistic eternal in this game.
“I have said it until I was on the face, but I really believe I am a better player now from 10 years ago.
“It is very difficult to stay patient, continue to return and can’t finish it.
“There are points behind nine where I think, ‘Do I let this slip again?’ But I responded and was very proud of myself.
“This is an emotional week so I like to be the last man to stand.”
Right before slipping on a green jacket that was coveted during the presentation ceremony, the northern Irish said: “This is my -17th time here and I began to ask if it would be my time.
“I really feel honored and happy and very proud to be able to call myself a master champion.”
Mcilroy had missed the six -foot putt for Par, the scourge that dropped him back 11 below, where he joined Rose – leading to a dramatic playoff between the two.
Only five other golfers are able to complete the career of Grand Slam – Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen.
Mcilroy is the winner of the PGA championship twice, claiming prizes in 2012 and 2014.
The 35 -year -old also won his first main title, US Open, in 2011, and won an open championship in 2014.
How did Mcilroy Clinch win?
Mcilroy recovered from the loss of the advantage of two shots last night with a double opening bogey opening hole to initially take control in Augusta National, only to lead four shots over the six hole cover.
Number two of the world made the last to close one-over 73 and return to 11 under Rose, which canceled the seven-stroke deficit and posted an amazing 66 final round to force the playoff.

Mr. Denver continued by saying that the feeling was “really fantastic”, adding he remembered Mcilroy “from a young man who grew up and he is now one of the six players who won the Grand Slam who was only hard to believe”.
Ruth Watt, the Holywood Golf Club female captain, said: “We are all very proud, really happy to be able to welcome Rory at home with the green jacket.
“He has put us through the ringing tonight but extraordinary results.”
He added: “There is always something very special about the golf he plays but he is a man who is so kind and a beautiful and pleasant person.”
For the club, Mcilroy’s victory is only “phenomenal”, he said.
