Rugby: Green Falcons thrash Ghana 40-0 in women’s international friendly

By Onyekachi Chimezie

The Nigerian women’s rugby league team, the Green Falcons, produced a ruthless display to defeat Ghana 40-0 in an international friendly match held in Alaro town.

It was the first of a two-match friendly series between the West African neighbors, and the Falcons wasted no time in asserting their dominance with a flawless offensive and defensive performance.

The result underlines Nigeria’s growing strength in women’s rugby as the team steps up preparations for the 2025 Women’s International Rugby League Series, scheduled for later this month.

Both teams will meet again in the second friendly, where Ghana will hope to bounce back, while Nigeria will look to maintain their winning momentum.
