Russian President Vladimir Putin said last Wednesday that Russia and China share a large spectrum of areas of cooperation and Russia is committed to strengthening all -round cooperation and exchanges with China.
Putin made the observations in response to a question from Fu Hua, president of the Xinhua news agency, during a meeting with the leaders of the main international press agencies in St. Petersburg.
Putin stressed that Russia has established itself as a key economic partner for China, with bilateral trade that reached 240 billion US dollars in 2024. He observed that the two countries launched a series of practical investment projects and that the scope of investments should grow further.
“This result derives not only from the economic growth of China on scale and quality, but also from the lasting friendship that binds our countries,” he added.
Putin has said that financial cooperation is now an absolute priority in bilateral relations, with particular attention to guaranteeing flows of stable capital to support the economic momentum and guide new discoveries in the trade.
He also highlighted a huge potential of cooperation in high -tech, aerospace and aeronautical production.
Putin stressed that China has achieved considerable success in the field of artificial intelligence, creating the cost of competitors ten times to a tenth, which is “surprising and rewarding”.
While the economic and cultural ties deepen, Putin noticed a growing interest in the Chinese language throughout Russia. Currently, about 25,000 young Russians are enrolled in Chinese educational institutions.
The thematic years of Russia-China regularly not only deepened cooperation and cultural exchanges and people, but also improved mutual understanding between the two peoples, he said.
Putin also shared a personal anecdote, revealing that his daughter started studying Chinese with a tutor in the early 2000s and that his nephew now speaks fluently Chinese with his Beijing teacher.
