Ruthless Sinner beats Djokovic to create Alcaraz Final

Jannik Sinner will face the reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final after a ruthless demolition of the last offer by Novak Djokovic for a 25th record title of the Grand Slam.

Djokovic, 38, was left to reflect on how age was reaching him after a humiliating defeat for 6-3 6-4 by a man who plays strangely as the seven times champion at his peak.

Sinner’s victory put him in a first final of Wimbledon and created a Re-Match of the Epico Open French show last month, where he lost in five sets against Alcaraz with guided by two sets and saw three championship points saved.

At least one of Sinner and Alcaraz contested the final of the men’s individuals at the last six Grand Slam tournaments, while Sinner is going for a first title far from the courts against Alcaraz, twice winner at the All England Club.

Djokovic had previously admitted that this tournament on its favorite surface probably offered its best possibility of establishing an autonomous record of the title of the main singles.

“These guys are in shape, young, acute. I feel like I was going to the game with Tank Half Exve. It is not possible to win such a game,” Djokovic said.

“I don’t think it’s a bad luck. He only has age, body wear.”

Having been largely defeated for two sets, Djokovic threatened a return to the third, but Sinner has greatly won five games in a row while he went to guarantee a fifth final of the Grand Slam.

The three -time major winner Sinner, 23, has now won the last six meetings against Djokovic, but this was the first time on the grass.

There were doubts about the physical fitness of both players before the game and, while the sinner did not seem hindered by his elbow injury, Djokovic requested a medical collapse after the second set and admitted that he had taken into consideration the possibility of “retiring”.

Another ending between Sinner and Alcaraz only five weeks after the last in Roland Garros gives Italian the possibility of revenge against Spanish, who beat the fifth American seed Taylor Fritz 6-4 5-7 6-3 7-6 (8-6) in the first semifinal on Friday in a hot day sultry.

“It’s a great honor for me to share the court again with Carlos,” Sinner said.

“I hope it’s a good game like the last – I don’t know if it will be better because I don’t know if it is possible, but we will try – I hope it will be a pleasant game.” [BBC]
