There was a tension on Thursday, in the community of Uzanu when Sani Ikani, the younger brother of the deposed Uzanu oil, Benjamin Ikani, violently interrupted a peaceful demonstration held in support of the anti-cultural law of the government of the Edo state.
According to the witnesses, the accident occurred when a crew of ITV news arrived in the community to cover the event, which drew a widespread support for the governor on Monday the Okpebhale war against violence linked to cult.
According to reports, Sani Ikani faced journalists, asking that they stop registering and leaving the area immediately.
When his attempts to stop the coverage were not successful, Ikani intensified the situation by snatching a recording gadget from the ITV crew and destroying him on the ground.
He then ordered journalists strongly to free the community.
The correspondent of ITV, MacDonald Iconokhai, who was part of the crew, has since submitted a formal complaint to the Uzanu police station.
In the report, the police urged to investigate the accident and undertake adequate legal action against Sani Ikani for deliberately obstructed a lawful and peaceful event.
The observers and members of the community have condemned Ikani’s actions, describing them as a deliberated attempt to silence the media coverage and intimidate the supporters of the government’s anti-crown efforts.
Many believe that the accident reflects a model of hostility and aggression associated with both Sani Ikani and his older brother, Benjamin Ikani, who was recently “removed” by his traditional Uzanu sovereign position.
Although, according to what reported, removed, yet Benjamin Ikani still has the office staff in his case that gives a significant authority on him.
The security agencies are now invited to submit both Benjamin and healthy to close to prevent further threats to peace and order within the community.
The event, organized by groups of young people and civil societies, continued despite the interruption, with many participants who reiterated their support for the anti-laltismo initiatives led by the Governor Okpebholo.
