Edo2024 Senator Okpebholo reiterates commitment to empower Benin City business community

Benin City,: August 29, 2024— The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo AKA Akpakomiza, together with Senator Uroghide and other party loyalists, met with the New Building Materials Sellers Association in Benin City, where they discussed strategies to strengthen the growth and development of the market. The event, attended by key stakeholders in the city’s business sector, highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the local economy through targeted financial and infrastructural support.

The spokesperson of the association warmly welcomed Senator Monday Okpebholo and stressed the urgent need for financial assistance. He urged the Senator to facilitate a line of credit to help less financially stable traders develop the land graciously allotted to them by the Oba of Benin.

In response, Senator Uroghide expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the association and stressed that it is a firm commitment on the part of Akpakomiza to support the development of the market through cooperative and agreeable regulatory measures. He assured the association that their concerns would be addressed as part of a broader strategy to uplift the economic terrain of Benin City and Edo State in general.

Senator Okpebholo reflected on his personal journey from an apprentice to a prominent figure in the country and identified deeply with the aspirations of the traders. He stressed the crucial role of empowering local businesses, especially the Igbo community, in reviving the struggling economy of Edo State.
“Infrastructure development is the lifeblood of a thriving economy,” said Senator Okpebholo. “When we invest in our markets and create the right environment for businesses to thrive, we set the stage for sustained economic growth.”

He also condemned the fiscal mismanagement that has led to the current financial woes of the state, highlighting the heavy debt incurred under the administration of Governor Obaseki. Reaffirming his commitment to the business community, Akpakomiza promised to support the development of the land allotted by the Oba of Benin and ensure it becomes a vibrant commercial hub that will benefit all.
